Police superintendent dismissed and banned for 11 years over sexual harassment

Pereira's Provincial Prosecutor's Office imposed dismissal and a general ban for 11 years and eight months on Police Superintendent José Gregorio Aguirre Corrales, from the Available Force Section of Pereira's Metropolitan Police, for sexually harassing a subintendent and two patrol officers.

The Prosecutor's Office confirmed that Aguirre Corrales, who served as the women's supervisor in his section, made inappropriate sexual advances to his subordinates. He offered them money and benefits in exchange for sexual relations, according to the oversight body.

The Public Ministry handled the complaint with a gender focus, following legal implementation guidelines. The victims experienced psychological harm, effects on their personal and professional lives, and feelings of insecurity and intimidation due to the superintendent's systematic behavior.

The entity classified the conduct as a very serious disciplinary offense committed intentionally, as it violated the dignity, integrity, and respect owed to the subordinates. The decision is subject to appeal with suspensive effect before the Risaralda Judgment Prosecutor's Office.
