Japan's Crown Prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko will visit Paraguay from August 18 to 26 to mark the 90th anniversary of Japanese immigration.
The Japanese government announced the goodwill visit on July 21 in response to an invitation from the Paraguayan government. The couple will travel on a government plane from Tokyo's Haneda airport via the United States.
They are scheduled to pay a courtesy call to Paraguayan President Santiago Pena in Asuncion on August 20. The prince will deliver remarks at the anniversary ceremony the next day.
The itinerary also includes visits to La Colmena, the site of the first Japanese settlements, and Iguazu Falls to meet members of the Japanese community. They will depart Paraguay on August 24 and return to Japan on August 26.
Crown Prince Fumihito previously visited Paraguay in 2006 for the 70th anniversary of Japanese immigration.
