Grammy-winning R&B singer Muni Long revealed she underwent a life-saving double lung transplant after being told by doctors she had only one week to live. The 37-year-old singer, who has been battling lupus, chose to face the life-threatening situation for the sake of her son.
Muni Long revealed this shocking news on "Good Morning America," recalling her stunned reaction to the diagnosis. "My jaw dropped. Literally," she said, adding that doctors told her it was not a joke—it was either hospice care or new lungs.
She initially worried about her voice, but after thinking of her three-year-old son, Tatum, she chose survival. "I can't sing if I'm not here," Long explained, setting her ego aside.
The star also admitted that she regrets joining Brandy and Monica's tour last year while battling pneumonia. Although she is currently feeling well after the surgery, doctors say it could be six months to a year before she returns to performing.
Social media has been flooded with well-wishes. So... when is the comeback tour, Muni?
