ANI confirms conditions to start Accesos Norte Phase II construction

The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has verified that conditions are met for concessionaire Ruta Bogotá Norte S.A.S. to sign the start act for the construction phase of the Accesos Norte Phase II project in March 2026. This road initiative, spanning about 17.96 kilometers, aims to enhance connectivity between Bogotá and the northern municipalities of Cundinamarca.

The ANI reported that, following technical, legal, financial, land, environmental, and social reviews, concessionaire Ruta Bogotá Norte S.A.S. can proceed to sign the Construction Phase Start Act in March 2026. These checks confirm compliance with the project's contractual obligations, focusing on improving mobility in northern Bogotá and Cundinamarca.

During the preconstruction stage, studies and detailed designs for layout were approved, no objection was received for the Works Plan, financing was closed, and land aspects were managed for the first functional units. Licenses were also obtained, including Resolution 029 of 2026 issued by the National Environmental Licensing Authority (Anla) for those units.

Roberto Uparela, Executive Vice President of the ANI, stated: “According to the verification conducted by the ANI and the oversight, the precedent conditions have been met that allow advancing to the signing of the Construction Phase Start Act, the document through which the start of the project's works is formalized.”

Initial works will target the expansion of the Autopista Norte between streets 191 and 245, adding two mixed lanes per direction and an exclusive TransMilenio lane between streets 191 and 235. Existing lanes will be intervened, and passing lanes will be built in projected stations. The plan includes infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists, such as sidewalks and bike paths on both sides of the road, along with at-grade returns at streets 235 and 242. Studies will also be developed for the intersection at street 201.

This 17.96-kilometer project marks a key advancement in the metropolitan road infrastructure.
