회사는 한국, 대만, 일본에서의 투자 및 상업 활동 확대 계획을 미국 당국과 논의했으나 보안 문제는 다루지 않았다고 강조했다. 쿠팡은 AI 혁신, 투자, 일자리 창출, 국경 간 상거래를 우선순위로 삼았다고 덧붙였다.
1~3월 로비 비용으로 16억원(109만달러)을 지출했으며, 주요 미국 기업들은 쿠팡보다 3~4배 더 많이 쓴다고 쿠팡은 밝혔다. "미국과 한국 기업의 로비 활동은 법적 틀 안에서 이뤄진다"고 회사는 입장을 밝혔다.
