Demolition underway of Erikshjälpen building in Lund

The demolition of Erikshjälpen's old building along Öresundsvägen in Lund has started, as part of plans for a new urban district. Around 600 rental apartments are set to be built there, but the detailed plan has been appealed by local associations.

The transformation of the industrial area along Öresundsvägen into the new Västerbro district continues. In a block north of the road, around 600 rental apartments are planned with Rikshem as the landlord. The buildings are set to be four to six stories high, with up to two attic floors possible. The ground floors will accommodate central activities such as shops or restaurants.

The detailed plan was approved by the building committee in December. Demolition of the existing buildings, which previously housed the second-hand store Erikshjälpen and the music store Into Music, has now begun.

However, the plans are not yet final. The detailed plan has been appealed by two nearby housing associations and the urban environment association AFSL. The matter is now with the Land and Environment Court in Växjö, which will decide whether the plan should be overturned.
