FACUA denounces Bertín Osborne telecom firm for breaching five laws

Consumer group FACUA has filed complaints against Española de Telefonía, the new telecom company of singer Bertín Osborne, for violating multiple regulations.

FACUA accuses EDT Compañía Ibérica de Telefonía SL of breaching laws on consumer protection, advertising, unfair competition, information society services and data protection. The complaints were lodged with the Dirección General de Consumo, the State Secretariats for Telecommunications and Digitalisation and the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos.

The advertising campaign uses the slogan “Las cosas bien hechas, las cosas a derechas”. FACUA notes that the 7.50 euro monthly plan for unlimited calls and 25 Gbps is 33 percent more expensive than comparable market offers. The website also fails to provide contractual terms, information on the right of withdrawal or a legal notice with the company address.

Customer service lines are not free and an AI greets callers with “viva España”. FACUA further criticises the lack of proper disclosure of the privacy policy. All described facts relate to the date of the complaint publication.
