PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk, through Yayasan GoTo Merah Putih, distributed hundreds of special vests to deaf driver partners to mark International Disability Day. The initiative aims to ease communication between drivers and customers. The symbolic distribution took place in Jakarta on December 3, 2025.
On December 3, 2025, Yayasan GoTo Merah Putih (YGMP) under PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) distributed hundreds of special vests to deaf driver partners across Indonesia, as part of International Disability Day commemorations. The symbolic handover occurred at the Gojek Kemang Timur office in South Jakarta, with gradual distribution to follow.
YGMP Chair Amelia Sutanto stated that the initiative reflects a commitment to building a safe, equal, and inclusive work ecosystem. "With this special vest, we hope deaf driver partners can work more comfortably, and users can interact with them more easily," Amelia said in an official statement on December 3, 2025.
The vests serve as identification tools to help customers understand the drivers' condition and adjust communication during rides. Internal YGMP findings indicate that communication barriers often challenge deaf drivers, affecting their productivity. Customers frequently hesitate in interactions, though many wish to communicate openly.
One participant, driver partner Filifus Effendi, expressed his gratitude. "Honestly, I often feel insecure. Every time I get an order, I usually chat right away and apologize because I'm deaf, fearing my service won't match that of hearing colleagues," Filifus said on December 3, 2025. He added that the new vest boosts his confidence and productivity.
The vests include communication guides, such as tapping the left shoulder for a left turn, both shoulders to stop, and forming an inverted 'U' on the back for a U-turn. Beyond vests, YGMP provides auto-chat features in the app, deaf partner identification in the app, and communication training to facilitate customer interactions. The effort aims to remove barriers and encourage partners to continue contributing.
