Ludvig Åberg disappointed after 69 in Masters third round

Ludvig Åberg shot 69 on Saturday's third round of the US Masters but expressed disappointment with the result. He made seven birdies but also four bogeys, leaving him tied for 20th at –3 after three rounds. Åberg criticized his mistakes on the front nine.

Ludvig Åberg, paired with world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, started strongly with a birdie on hole 3 and a good chance on 4. He missed a short birdie putt on 4, however, and followed with bogeys on holes 5, 6, and 7 amid the scorching heat.

Åberg recovered on the back nine, playing it in 32 strokes. He birdied holes 10, 11, 12, 14, and 15, but made bogey on 13 after his second shot found the water—despite a free drop from a sprinkler head.

"Overall, I'm disappointed," Åberg told media at the Augusta National clubhouse. "It's very mixed, I think. A lot was good, of course the last nine was positive. But looking back at the front nine and those bogeys, I leave approach shots on the wrong side of the hole."

After rounds of 74-70-69, he is tied for preliminary 20th at –3. In his debut two years ago, he finished second, and last year seventh. Defending champion Rory McIlroy leads at –13, chased by Cameron Young at –11, while Scheffler is –7 after a 65.

Alex Norén, the other Swede, also shot 69 and shares 39th at +1.
