Texas man arrested in alleged baseball bat killing

A 51-year-old Texas man has been arrested on a first-degree murder charge after police say he beat another man to death with a baseball bat in San Antonio. Victor Sigala is accused in the May 8 death of 39-year-old Eric Perez.

The incident took place at an abandoned residence on Prairie Hill Street in far southwest San Antonio. Officers responded after a neighbor reported what sounded like a shooting and found Perez dead with severe head trauma.

Sigala was identified through surveillance footage showing three masked men entering the building. One man, later identified as Sigala, was seen removing his mask and carrying an aluminum baseball bat, according to police.

Witnesses told investigators that Sigala admitted to the attack. One said Sigala told him, "I hit him with a bat. He wasn't moving." Another reported Sigala saying he knew he had killed the victim.

Sigala was arrested on Monday and is being held in the Bexar County Jail on $250,000 bond. Two other suspects remain unidentified.
