Vice President JD Vance stated that negotiations with Iran will persist as long as President Donald Trump directs them to continue. The comments came during an interview amid the breakdown of a ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
Vance told The Daily Wire that the administration remains unified on the approach. “We’re going to keep on talking so long as the president tells us to do so,” he said. He added that the decision to stop would come directly from Trump.
The ceasefire collapsed last week after Iranian attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump declared the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding and the ceasefire dead but permitted talks to go on. Vance noted that the original MOU required the strait to remain open during negotiations.
Vance said U.S. strikes target the free flow of oil and gas in the region. He stated that the United States has already destroyed Iran’s nuclear program and that Trump does not pursue endless wars. Every action serves a clear objective, he emphasized.
