South Korea opened a large-scale pavilion on the first day of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee session in Busan. The K-Heritage House showcases the country's cultural heritage and preservation efforts.
On July 20, the K-Heritage House opened at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center, organized by the Korea Heritage Service. The venue spans an area equivalent to two football fields and offers exhibitions, performances and hands-on programs.
Divided into four themed zones, it covers the past, present and future of heritage, with living intangible heritage demonstrations and technology-driven displays. Fourteen artisans present 11 traditional skills.
The same day the committee unanimously adopted the Busan Declaration. It calls for stronger international cooperation to protect heritage from climate change and conflicts. UNESCO officials stressed the need for preventive measures.
