Ethiopia's National Disaster Risk Management Commission's central command delivered 100 quintals of grain to households hit by landslides in Gamo Zone's various woredas. Zone officials contributed cash and supplies as well.
In Gamo Zone's Gaga Bo and other woredas, a natural disaster from landslides has destroyed numerous households, as reported from Addis Ababa on Megabit 11, 2018 (Fana Media). The National Disaster Risk Management Commission's central command supplied 100 quintals of grain as daily ration aid to those affected. > The disaster that struck our communities in Gamo Zone has greatly shocked our agency's members and leadership. Colonel Licha Mergersa, head of the agency's staff welfare development, stated this. The command pledged comprehensive support to sustainably rehabilitate victims to normal life. Gamo Zone's Women and Social Affairs directorate staff and leadership provided 126,500 birr in cash, along with clothes and household items worth 255,000 birr. The zone's work and skills directorate gave 61,400 birr plus clothes and other items valued at 30,000 birr. Zone chief administrator Dr. Demssu Adamasu thanked the command's members and leaders for their aid aimed at stabilizing victims and recognizing their plight. With aid flowing generously from all quarters, a call went out for additional support from the IOM to aid recovery.
