Andreas Hägglund named general manager at Linköping HC

Andreas Hägglund has been appointed as the new general manager for Linköping Hockey Club (LHC), working closely alongside sports director Broc Little. Hägglund, currently wrapping up his tenure at Mora IK, highlighted the club's strategic plans and organizational structure as key attractions. The move aims to establish a clear framework across LHC's operations.

Linköping Hockey Club announced Andreas Hägglund's appointment as general manager, with overall responsibility for the sporting activities, including the SHL team, SDHL team, juniors, academy, and youth programs. Club managing director Carl-Johan Stålhammar stated, 'We are convinced that Andreas will establish a clear red thread through the entire operation, in line with our ambitions.' Hägglund will collaborate tightly with Broc Little, who retains the sports director title, sharing views on operations and decision-making when needed. They plan no additional roles in the leadership beyond one assistant coach hire, building on a previously split sports director position now updated as GM role. Hägglund, who has spent the last decade at Mora IK—his boyhood club—is honoring his notice period there before fully joining LHC. 'I want to hand over in the best possible way in Mora IK,' he said, noting the emotional challenge of leaving after building strong relationships. He was drawn to LHC by its presented strategic plans and sense of organization, despite past challenges. In his role, Hägglund will contribute to recruitment efforts, similar to his Mora work, focusing on creating structure and a unified line through all club sections. He was not involved in hiring new head coach Ante Karlsson, contracted through the 2028/29 season, but expressed confidence: 'I believe it will be great. He stands for structure and has been at LHC before.' Hägglund aims to develop existing strengths at LHC for better performance across levels.
