ATM saúda a criação de comitê de impeachment sobre o caso Phala Phala

O African Transformation Movement (ATM) saudou a decisão da presidente da Assembleia Nacional de criar um comitê de impeachment para o presidente Cyril Ramaphosa, após uma decisão do Tribunal Constitucional na última sexta-feira.

O comitê decorre de uma ordem judicial que determina que o Parlamento deve permitir que o presidente responda a evidências de moeda estrangeira roubada de sua fazenda Phala Phala em 2020. O porta-voz do ATM, Zama Ntshona, descreveu a medida como um passo constitucional importante, mas exortou que o processo seja conduzido com integridade, justiça e independência.

A COSATU rejeitou a composição do comitê, formado por 31 membros provenientes de todos os 18 partidos. O coordenador parlamentar Matthew Parks afirmou que a alocação concede ao Congresso Nacional Africano (ANC) apenas nove cadeiras, em vez das 12 a que teria direito com base em sua fatia de 40 por cento das cadeiras após a eleição de 2024.

Durante uma acalorada sessão de perguntas e respostas na Assembleia Nacional na quinta-feira, deputados da oposição do MKP, EFF e ATM realizaram uma paralisação e classificaram Ramaphosa como um infrator constitucional devido à decisão do tribunal.
