Chuquimamani-Condori announces Los Thuthanaka project Waq'a

Chuquimamani-Condori debuted unreleased music on Nashville's WNXP radio station and announced a new Los Thuthanaka release. The project, titled Waq'a, arrives April 3 on Bandcamp with an Aymara-language booklet. It features three instrumental tracks based on an Aymara story of the sun.

Chuquimamani-Condori performed a set of unreleased original music yesterday on Nashville public radio station WNXP. The performance included new edits of songs by Bob Seger, Jason Aldean, and Vince Gill, whom they described as “probably my favorite artist of all time.” They also offered interpretations of tracks by Andean folk artists such as Picaflor de los Andes, Los Walys, and Grupo Juventud, among others. The full episode is available online. During the broadcast, Chuquimamani-Condori revealed details of their next Los Thuthanaka project, Waq'a. This work reimagines the Aymara story of the sun through music and includes three instrumental pieces: two set before the sun's creation and one addressing its end. The release launches April 3 on Bandcamp, accompanied by a booklet published exclusively in Aymara and co-curated with Shana Inofuentes and Eber Miranda of Ch’ama Native Americas. Los Thuthanaka issued their self-titled debut album in 2025. Chuquimamani-Condori recently shared the EP Luzmila Edits in February, featuring edits of songs by Bolivian artist Luzmila Carpio under the DJ E alias. That same month, bandmate Joshua Chuquimia Crampton released his solo album Anata.
