Egypt building materials exports rise 36 percent to 14.9 billion dollars

Egypt recorded a 36 percent increase in building materials exports in 2025, reaching 14.875 billion dollars, as officials concluded talks on further growth strategies.

Egypt’s Export Development Fund completed consultations with the Export Council for Building Materials, Refractory & Metallurgy Industries and 11 other councils. The July 2026 meeting, led by Hatem El Nawawy and Ahmed Hafez, reviewed performance data and priorities for export expansion.

Exports in the sector grew from 10.872 billion dollars in 2024 to 14.875 billion dollars in 2025. They represented about 30 percent of Egypt’s non-oil exports that year. Shipments reached 4.803 billion dollars in the first five months of 2026.

El Nawawy highlighted the need for deeper local manufacturing and greater use of trade agreements to enter markets in Africa and Europe. Hafez stressed directing surplus factory output toward exports and increasing participation in international exhibitions.

The talks form part of a broader government effort to diversify markets and raise the value of Egyptian products.
