‘El Chamuco TV’ has been the first television program dedicated to cartoonists, where Rafael Barajas ‘El Fisgón’, José Hernández, and Rafael Pineda ‘Rapé’ brought the satirical spirit of the magazine El Chamuco y los hijos del averno to the screen. Aired on Canal 22 and Canal Once, the show ran for 21 seasons with interviews and coverage of daily events, offering humor and sharp critique of current issues.
Canal 22 announced via social media that the project ends after eight years, noting that it ‘provided humor, criticism, and a sharp view of current affairs’. The final broadcast, set for Sunday, December 14, at 8:00 PM, will last two hours and can be viewed on Canal 22 as well as via streaming. In this special, the hosts will trace the program’s history and its impact on Mexico’s left since 2018, covering the Fourth Transformation and Mexican humanism.
The episode will feature writers Fabrizio Mejía and Pedro Miguel, journalists Nancy Flores, Alina Duarte, and Ana Lilia Pérez, and historian Lorenzo Meyer. They will review political, media, and historical processes that shaped Mexico in recent years. Renata Turrent, director of Canal Once, will also offer remarks on this critical space that lasted nearly a decade.
The Secretariat of Culture stressed that this farewell celebrates the history and support ‘El Chamuco TV’ gave to audiences. Previous episodes are available on the official YouTube channel.
