Four men sentenced to prison for crypto robbery in Tobo

Four men have been sentenced to six years in prison for an aggravated robbery in Tobo, northern Uppland. A family was bound, subjected to a mock execution, and forced to transfer cryptocurrency worth 2.5 million kronor. The robbery was interrupted after 1.5 hours when one victim alerted relatives.

In September 2025, five masked men broke into two neighboring villas in Tobo, northern Uppland. The family was captured with zip ties and tape, threatened with guns, subjected to violence, and forced to transfer 2.5 million kronor in cryptocurrency. The victims also endured a mock execution during the ordeal.

After 1.5 hours, one victim activated a microphone in a gaming chat to alert other family members. The father and brother arrived at the villas, shouted, and scared off the masked robbers. "Without my brother and father, I wouldn't be alive," one victim said in a police interview.

A district court has now sentenced four of the men to six years in prison for aggravated robbery. The fifth robber remains at large and is suspected to be abroad. Two men and a woman were also sentenced for laundering parts of the stolen proceeds.
