Google and Telekom to restructure sovereign cloud partnership

The partnership between Google and T-Systems for sovereign cloud solutions in Germany faces restructuring, with Google already in talks with a new partner.

In 2021 Telekom and Google jointly announced a sovereign cloud project for Germany. It focused on companies, authorities and the healthcare sector.

Three insiders told Handelsblatt that the partnership in its current form could be nearing its end. Google is already holding talks with a new partner.

The shift marks a turning point for the once symbolic project involving teams in Düsseldorf and San Francisco.
