A 49-year-old cyclist died on Sunday morning after crashing into a kerb on Bride’s Pool Road, a notorious accident black spot in Hong Kong’s Tai Po district. He sustained a head injury and lost consciousness before being rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

On Sunday morning around 10.30am, a 49-year-old cyclist hit a kerb on Bride’s Pool Road near Wang Chung Stream, sustaining a head injury and losing consciousness. Police said he was rushed to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital but was declared dead at 11.36am.

A source said the victim had set off from Yuen Long at about 7.30am with five fellow cyclists, heading towards Tai Po. The group stopped for food at Bride’s Pool before returning towards Tai Mei Tuk on their way back to Yuen Long. His companions did not witness the crash.

Bride’s Pool Road is a notorious accident black spot, known for frequent traffic incidents. This event highlights ongoing safety concerns on the road.
