LG Electronics and Qualcomm to unveil AI computing solution for cars

LG Electronics plans to unveil an AI-based high-performance computing solution for automobiles, developed with Qualcomm Technologies, at a major U.S. consumer electronics show next month. The platform targets digital cockpits in advanced vehicles, using generative AI tools to improve driver experiences. This collaboration aims to position LG at the forefront of the shift from software-defined to AI-defined vehicles.

LG Electronics announced on December 11, 2025, that it will unveil a new artificial intelligence-based high-performance computing solution for automobiles, developed jointly with Qualcomm Technologies Inc., at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January. The Korean company will showcase the AI Cabin Platform designed for automakers, which applies to digital cockpits in advanced vehicles. It incorporates various generative AI tools, such as vision and image generation models, into infotainment systems to enhance drivers' experiences.

The partnership seeks to propel LG Electronics into leadership in the AI-defined vehicles (AIDV) sector, extending beyond the software-defined vehicle (SDV) market. "Based on the verified technology and credibility in the global market, we will expand our strong business collaboration to lead the transition to AIDV from SDV," said Eun Seok-hyun, executive vice president of LG Electronics, in a release.

This development underscores the growing integration of AI in the automotive industry, highlighting LG's potential role in future mobility innovations. The CES reveal is expected to demonstrate the platform's practical applications to industry stakeholders.
