LPA may dissipate by weekend, Pagasa says

The low pressure area formerly known as Tropical Cyclone Caloy is forecast to weaken and dissipate over the Philippine Sea by Friday or Saturday without affecting the country.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported that the system was last tracked 495 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes. Weather specialist Chenel Dominguez stated that it is not expected to intensify again into a tropical cyclone or bring direct impacts to any part of the country.

Fair weather is anticipated across much of the Philippines in the coming days, though isolated rain showers and thunderstorms may still occur in some areas. Hot and humid conditions will persist, with heat indices reaching the danger level of 42 to 51 degrees Celsius in multiple locations.

In Metro Manila, heat indices are projected between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius. The highest readings of 45 degrees Celsius are expected in Echague, Isabela; Camiling, Tarlac; and Butuan City, Agusan del Norte. Dominguez advised the public to limit outdoor activities during midday hours, use sun protection, and remain hydrated.
