ITCZ to bring rains over southern Mindanao on Monday

The Intertropical Convergence Zone is forecast to bring cloudy skies and scattered rains with thunderstorms to parts of southern Mindanao on Monday, May 18, according to Pagasa.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the ITCZ will affect Zamboanga Peninsula, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Soccsksargen and the Davao Region. Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio stated that the system is expected to continue its impact in Mindanao on Tuesday before gradually moving away on Wednesday.

Hot and humid conditions will prevail elsewhere in the country due to the easterlies. Metro Manila is expected to see temperatures between 25°C and 33°C, while several other cities will reach up to 35°C.

No tropical cyclone or low-pressure area is being monitored inside or outside the Philippine area of responsibility. Danger-level heat indices of up to 45°C were recorded in multiple locations across the country on Sunday.
