Typhoon Domeng exits PAR while enhancing monsoon rains

Typhoon Domeng is leaving the Philippine Area of Responsibility on June 1 but continues to enhance the southwest monsoon, bringing scattered rains to parts of Luzon and Western Visayas.

As of 4 a.m. on Monday, the typhoon was located 655 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. It moved north northwest at 15 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 160 kilometers per hour.

PAGASA reported that Domeng would exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Monday afternoon. The enhanced habagat brought moderate to heavy rains to areas including Palawan and Occidental Mindoro on June 1, with similar conditions expected in Bataan on June 2.

Strong to gale-force gusts affected Batanes, Metro Manila, and other regions. Small vessels were advised against sailing on dangerous seaboards with waves up to 3.5 meters high.

Domeng marked the fourth tropical cyclone in the Philippines for 2026. PAGASA is expected to declare the start of the rainy season soon.
