Typhoon Inday left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday but its effects continue through the enhanced southwest monsoon. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported 17 deaths and more than 514,700 people affected.

Typhoon Inday, also known as Bavi, exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 8:20 a.m. on Saturday, July 11. At 10 a.m., it was located 590 kilometers north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 170 kph. The storm is moving toward the East China Sea and may make landfall over mainland China.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the southwest monsoon, or habagat, enhanced by Inday will continue to bring rains over much of Luzon and the Visayas on Sunday. Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro may receive 100 to 200 millimeters of rain, with flash floods and landslides possible.

The NDRRMC reported 17 deaths, mostly from landslides in Malapatan, Sarangani, and Calanogas, Lanao del Sur, along with nine people missing and 112,500 families affected nationwide. Government agencies have provided more than P16.4 million in assistance. Over 1,000 passengers were stranded in ports due to rough seas.
