Director Luca Guadagnino said he was not surprised when Amazon MGM Studios dropped his film Artificial about OpenAI chief Sam Altman. The decision followed Amazon's announcement of a $50 billion investment in OpenAI.

Guadagnino made the comments in response to the studio's choice to abandon the project.

The film had been in development at Amazon MGM before the investment announcement led to its cancellation.

No further details on the project's status or future plans were provided in the statement.
