President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed government agencies to strengthen support for Filipino inventors, citing the need to protect their intellectual property rights, ensure access to research grants, and turn ideas into startups. He made the remarks at the National Invention Contest and Exhibits Awards in Malacañang.
Speaking at the National Invention Contest and Exhibits Awards in Malacañang, President Marcos acknowledged the challenges inventors face, including lack of funds and limited access to modern technology.
He said the real challenge is bringing inventions to market so they can benefit the public.
"I have given instructions to the Department of Science and Technology and all other relevant government agencies to strengthen financial and technical support for our inventors," Marcos said.
The directive aims to enhance protections for intellectual property rights and accelerate innovation in the country.
