Mistaken identity leads to release in shubhendu adhikari pa murder case

Bengal police have released Raj Singh after a case of mistaken identity in the murder of Shubhendu Adhikari's personal assistant. The real accused has since been arrested.

Bengal police sources said Raj Singh was arrested due to mistaken identity. The CBI took him into custody from Muzaffarnagar and released him after questioning.

On 11 May Raj Singh was first arrested with help from Ayodhya police. Kolkata police had earlier detained Vicky Maurya and Mayank Mishra from Buxar.

The attack on Chandranath Rath took place on the night of 6 May in Madhyamgram. A car with a fake number plate stopped him and eight assailants opened fire.
