Die Polizei in Bengalen hat Raj Singh nach einer Verwechslung im Mordfall des persönlichen Assistenten von Shubhendu Adhikari freigelassen. Der tatsächliche Tatverdächtige wurde inzwischen festgenommen.

Quellen der Polizei in Bengalen gaben an, dass Raj Singh aufgrund einer Verwechslung festgenommen wurde. Das CBI nahm ihn in Muzaffarnagar in Gewahrsam und ließ ihn nach der Befragung wieder frei.

Am 11. Mai wurde Raj Singh erstmals mit Unterstützung der Polizei in Ayodhya festgenommen. Zuvor hatte die Polizei von Kolkata bereits Vicky Maurya und Mayank Mishra aus Buxar in Gewahrsam genommen.

Der Angriff auf Chandranath Rath ereignete sich in der Nacht zum 6. Mai in Madhyamgram. Ein Auto mit gefälschtem Nummernschild hielt ihn an und acht Angreifer eröffneten das Feuer.

Chandranath Rath, personal assistant to BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, was shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants on Wednesday night in Madhyamgram, North 24 Parganas.
