The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System-Regulatory Office ordered Maynilad Water Services Inc. to pay a P54.28 million fine for repeated interruptions from its water treatment plants. It also mandated refunds of P327.96 per affected water service connection, to appear on bills by May 2026.
The MWSS-RO ruled yesterday to impose a P54.28 million fine on Maynilad Water Services Inc. for service interruptions in the supply zones of its Putatan Water Treatment Plant and Poblacion Water Treatment Plant. The affected areas include Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Imus, and Bacoor.
The regulatory office stated that the West Zone concessionaire breached its obligation to provide uninterrupted water supply at a minimum pressure of seven pounds per square inch to its 165,518 connected customers.
The MWSS-RO directed Maynilad to credit P327.96 per affected water service connection to customers' bills by May 2026, as per Resolution 2026-06-CA. This measure aims to compensate those impacted by the disruptions.
