Cebu invests P56.4 million in hospital sewage systems

The Cebu Provincial government is building new sewage treatment facilities at eight hospitals with a total investment of P56.4 million. The project began with a groundbreaking on July 4, 2026.

Governor Pamela Baricuatro led the ceremony for an P8.4 million plant at Oslob District Hospital. The facilities will use membrane bioreactor technology to treat wastewater more efficiently.

Dr. Nikki Catalan said the systems will improve sanitation and environmental compliance. Similar plants are under construction at hospitals in Carcar, Argao, Bantayan, Minglanilla, Pinamungajan, Camotes, and Tuburan.

Allocations range from P1.6 million to P9.36 million per site. Oslob District Hospital is also receiving an emergency room upgrade.
