O município de Santiago reabriu a piscina olímpica aquecida no Parque O'Higgins após investir mais de 1,5 bilhão de pesos. A instalação atenderá mais de 12.000 usuários por mês.

A obra durou 14 semanas e incluiu melhorias nos sistemas de aquecimento, filtragem, iluminação e nos banheiros. Controles de acesso digitais também foram adicionados.

O prefeito Mario Desbordes afirmou que mais de 1,5 bilhão de pesos foram gastos para renovar a instalação. O subsecretário de Esportes, Andrés Otero, o presidente da Câmara dos Deputados, Jorge Alessandri, e a nadadora Eliana Busch compareceram à cerimônia, onde Busch recebeu uma placa de homenagem.

Otero destacou que o investimento em esportes reduzirá as necessidades hospitalares futuras. Desbordes também anunciou planos para um futuro complexo esportivo de 6,5 hectares no antigo local do Fantasilandia.
