A 56-year-old man is charged with strangling his partner, 46-year-old Annelie Eriksson Nevborn, to death in December 2024 and dumping her body in a lake outside Grythyttan. The body was found in March 2025, after she was reported missing. The prosecutor considers the evidence compelling, but the motive remains unclear.
Annelie Eriksson Nevborn, a 46-year-old mother of two from Grythyttan in Örebro County, was reported missing on December 7, 2024. Her partner, a 56-year-old man, was the last to see her alive on December 5, when they ate Christmas dinner together with Annelie's daughter at home. The daughter later tried calling her mother but got no answer.
According to the indictment, the man strangled Annelie to death sometime between December 5 and 6. He then loaded her body into his car, wrapped in a duvet, and drove to a nearby lake at Norsbron where he dumped it. The body was found on March 15, 2025, 15 kilometers from home, identified by tattoos reading "Gustav" and "Alice," the names of her children.
The man denies the crime and claims Annelie disappeared on December 6 when he returned from work, taking expensive wine and her passport with her. However, mobile location data shows he was home on the morning of December 6, contrary to his statements, and that he was awake during the night. Fibers from the duvet were found in the car's trunk.
"I have nothing to do with Annelie's disappearance," he says in interrogation. A relative expresses suspicions: "I've always thought it was him. As they say, appearances deceive."
The couple had been together for half a year, with no known history of violence from the man. Annelie reportedly planned to end the relationship after Christmas, but it's unclear if he knew. The family, including brother Andreas, has waited long for answers. "She shouldn't be gone yet," he says of the grief, hoping for closure through the trial starting January 20, 2026, in Örebro District Court.
Prosecutor Carolin Tengroth emphasizes the thorough investigation: "The police have conducted a solid investigation showing the partner was the last to see the woman alive. We have extensive technical evidence." The man is also charged with gross desecration of a grave. The family hopes the case can prevent similar tragedies.
