New witness summoned in Annelie murder trial: suspect's ex-partner relieved 'it's not me'

Prosecutors in the Annelie murder trial have called the suspect's former partner as a surprise witness midway through proceedings. In police interrogation, she said she was glad she was not the victim.

The trial continues for the strangulation murder of 46-year-old Annelie, killed in her Grythyttan home on December 6, 2024. Her body was found months later, wrapped in a duvet and trash bag, in a lake near Hällefors. The 56-year-old suspect—her partner at the time—was arrested that day and charged by prosecutor Carolin Tengroth.

Now, prosecutors have requested to hear a new witness: the suspect's ex-partner. Her testimony could shed light on their relationship and the case background. In police questioning, she stated: “I'm glad it's not me who's gone.”

The addition may influence the hearings in this high-profile local case, which has shocked the Örebro County community.
