On May 26, 2026, meetings took place in Delhi between Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar. Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal said the talks focused only on selecting candidates for Rajya Sabha and Legislative Council elections.
Sources indicated Siddaramaiah is likely to announce his decision on May 28. He is scheduled to host a cabinet breakfast meeting at his residence that day.
D.K. Shivakumar has been an aspirant for the chief minister post. The party has made no official announcement on leadership change.
