Trial opens in Falun for theft ring behind 70 stolen motorcycles and quads

The trial has begun in Falun District Court against eight suspects indicted two weeks ago for an organized theft ring that stole around 70 cross motorcycles and quads worth five million kronor from Dalarna and central Sweden, smuggling them to Poland. On the first day, the prosecutor presented chat conversations linking the accused.

Following the indictment filed on April 8 at Falu District Court—detailed in prior coverage—the trial opened Monday against the eight suspects charged with aggravated thefts across Dalarna, Gävle, Uppsala, Värmland, and Örebro.

Prosecutor Johan Knies reviewed chat messages connecting aliases to the defendants, discussing trailer rentals, covers, and payments for specific motorcycle brands and models. The operation's structure, including transport to Poland, was highlighted, building on the GPS-tracked bust in Leksand that cracked the case.

Due to the number of defendants, around 15 Prison and Probation Service guards were present. The proceedings underscore the gang's detailed planning and execution.
