Ukrainian war-affected children play in Storsjöcupen

The team Myropil from Ukraine is participating in this year's Storsjöcupen in Östersund thanks to private initiatives. The boys have been severely affected by the war and have trained together since winter.

Lars and Hege Lindgren took the initiative after Lars traveled by motorcycle to Ukraine. He has worked with youth and sports since the 1990s and wanted to help children affected by the war.

– I have worked with youth and sports since the 90s and felt that this is the closest war we have, so I wanted to go there and see for myself, says Lars Lindgren.

A church in Stockholm has contributed financially along with private donations and Storsjöcupen itself. The team plays at Åkreängs football pitch in Brunflo during the week.
