Wicomico chess tournaments return to Salisbury on February 20-21

Wicomico Recreation & Parks is hosting youth and adult chess tournaments at the Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury on February 20 and 21. The events offer guaranteed matches for participants and awards for top finishers. Registration is available online or at the box office.

The Wicomico Recreation & Parks department has announced the return of its Adult and Youth Chess Tournaments, scheduled for February 20 and 21 at the Wicomico Civic Center, located at 500 Glen Ave. in Salisbury. These competitions aim to bring together players of various ages in a structured setting.

The youth tournament, targeted at players aged 5 to 18, kicks off on February 20 at 5:30 p.m. Participants are assured at least four matches, with registration costing $10 in advance or $15 on the day of the event. The following day, February 21, the adult tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. for those 18 and older. Adults can register for $20 ahead of time or $25 at the door, guaranteeing three matches per entrant.

Both events will take place in the Midway and Da Nang Rooms of the civic center. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each division, recognizing outstanding performance.
