O X e grandes editoras musicais encerraram discretamente uma disputa judicial de três anos ao desistirem de seus processos opostos. O acordo foi firmado sem a divulgação dos termos.

A ação original foi movida em 2023 pela National Music Publishers Association contra a plataforma então conhecida como Twitter. O processo buscava 250 milhões de dólares e alegava milhares de violações de direitos autorais por parte de usuários que a empresa não teria resolvido.

O X posteriormente entrou com um contra-processo alegando que as editoras adotaram práticas anticompetitivas. Ambas as partes solicitaram a extinção dos casos com resolução de mérito em documentos judiciais recentes.

Nenhuma das partes forneceu uma explicação para a resolução. A plataforma não possuía anteriormente acordos de licenciamento com editoras musicais, ao contrário de muitos outros grandes serviços de mídia social.
