Xbox achievement updates for Insiders add customizations, privacy options, and 100% highlights

Xbox is testing enhancements to its achievement system with Insiders, including customizable pop-ups, the ability to hide games from profiles, and quick access to 100% completed titles. Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma announced the fan-driven changes on X on April 8, with details following in an Xbox blog post on April 9.

Xbox launched testing of achievement system updates for Xbox Insiders, with a broader rollout to follow. The changes, revealed first by Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma on X on April 8, stem from a dedicated team addressing fan feedback. "We stood up a dedicated team to focus on fan feedback," Sharma wrote. "Here are a few Achievements updates rolling out today, more coming soon."

The official Xbox blog post on April 9 provided further details, modernizing the experience with visual refreshes. Users can now customize achievement pop-up colors to match their profile (retaining the classic green option), alongside new icons and animations. A top-requested feature allows hiding specific games from public achievement history—ideal for tidying profiles cluttered by Game Pass trials—without impacting overall Gamerscore.

Additionally, a new filter highlights games with 100% achievement completion for easier access to mastered titles. The blog stated: "We're continuing to explore new ways to recognize completion and milestone moments over time, and this update is one of our first steps towards celebrating those moments."

These updates give players greater control over their showcases. Xbox pioneered achievements on Xbox 360, where Gamerscore offers social appeal and redeemable points—unlike PlayStation trophies—potentially positioning these features as an alternative to Sony's Platinum Trophies.
