Tesla launches Folding Unit Superchargers

Building on the recent transition to V4 production at Giga New York, Tesla has launched Folding Unit Superchargers on March 25, 2026. These units feature a 20% cost reduction, twice as fast deployment, and support 500kW charging via V4 cabinets without needing Tesla service technicians for commissioning. Each unit holds eight posts and ships more efficiently.

Tesla announced the Folding Unit Superchargers, a key advancement following the end of V3 cabinet production and V4 ramp-up at its Giga New York facility earlier this month. Shared via posts from Tesla news account Sawyer Merritt, the Rev1 units reduce costs by 20% over prior models and deploy twice as fast. Innovations include eliminating the need for Tesla service technicians during commissioning and removing on-site DC busbar connections. The folding design allows two configurations—folded for transport (fitting two units per truck for 16 posts, up from 12) and unfolded for installation—streamlining global network expansion. Rev3 units are planned for Q2 2026.
