TNI Chief General Agus Subiyanto honored Major Infantry Zulmi Aditya Iskandar as the 'best soldier' during his military funeral in Bandung on April 5, 2026, following the deaths of three Indonesian peacekeepers in Lebanon's UNIFIL mission. Army Chief General Maruli Simanjuntak, at the April 4 repatriation ceremony, pledged full state support for the families.
This follows the arrival of the remains of Major Zulmi, Serka Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Kopda Farizal Rhomadhon at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on April 4, after they were killed in attacks in southern Lebanon on March 29-30 while serving with the Indonesian Garuda XXIII-S/UNIFIL contingent.
General Agus Subiyanto led the funeral at Taman Makam Pahlawan Cikutra in Bandung on April 5. He described Major Zulmi, from Komando Pasukan Khusus (Kopassus), as the finest soldier who consistently earned rewards, including this peacekeeping deployment. "Almarhum merupakan prajurit terbaik yang setiap menjalankan tugas selalu mendapat reward dari satuan dan reward tersebut berupa penugasan misi perdamaian ke luar negeri di Lebanon," Agus said.
At the repatriation ceremony at the airport's Apron VIP Terminal 3, attended by President Prabowo Subianto, General Maruli assured fulfillment of all rights, including Rp200 million death benefits, insurance, Rp30 million per child scholarships, UN aid, and presidential assistance. "Negara akan terus memberikan perhatian dan dukungan penuh," Maruli stated.
