Carreras samlar in 3,4 miljoner euro till leukemistiftelse

Den spanske operasångaren José Carreras samlade in mer än 3,4 miljoner euro till sin leukemistiftelse vid en gala i Leipzig. Evenemanget bjöds på framstående artister och sändes i televisionen. Carreras tackade donatorerna för deras generositet.

Vid den 31:a upplagan av insamlingsgalan i Leipzigs Media City samlade den 79-årige spanske operasångaren José Carreras in mer än 3,4 miljoner euro till sin leukemistiftelse. Evenemanget sändes i MDR på onsdagskvällen och lockade nationella och internationella artister. Artister som Alvaro Soler, Beatrice Egli och Chris de Burgh uppmanade publiken att skänka pengar.

Kändisar som underhållaren Stefan Mross, fitnessinfluencern Sophia Thiel och musikern Joey Kelly medverkade också genom att ta emot löften om donationer per telefon. Carreras, som diagnostiserades med leukemi 1987 och tillfrisknade därefter, grundade José Carreras Leukemia Foundation. I fjol samlades över 3,5 miljoner euro in vid jubileumsgalan. Sångaren uttryckte sin tacksamhet: «Jag bugar mig för våra donatorer för detta generösa och hållbara stöd.» Stiftelsen använder pengarna för att främja vetenskaplig leukemiforskning och stödja drabbade.
