Ethiopian Immigration Service collects over 42.7 billion Birr

The Immigration and Citizenship Service collected more than 42.7 billion Birr in revenue from various services during the budget year.

Director General Selamawit Dawit said the service handled 7.2 million incoming and outgoing passengers by air and at borders during the budget year.

More than 1.6 million passports were issued. Service branches reached 23 to improve access. More than 1 million foreign citizens received services.

In addition 4,883 citizens were arrested for using fake documents. Over 55,000 people were detained for attempting illegal entry or exit.
