Identities of 10 victims in ATR 42-500 plane crash fully identified

The identification process for victims of the ATR 42-500 plane crash on the Yogyakarta-Makassar route has concluded, with all 10 victims successfully identified by the National Police's Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team in Makassar. Including one bodypack containing bones confirmed as part of one victim, the remains have been handed over to families.

The ATR 42-500 plane crash that killed 10 people has reached a final stage in handling with the completion of victim identification. According to Sulawesi Selatan Police Chief Inspector General Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro, the National Police DVI team, in collaboration with Hasanuddin University's Faculty of Medicine, identified all crew and passengers—consisting of 7 crew and 3 passengers—on January 24, 2026.

Three victims were identified earlier: Dede Maulana, Florencia Lolita, and Esther Aprilita. The remaining seven, whose remains were received from the Joint SAR Team on January 23, 2026, were identified as Andy Dahananto (pilot), Muhammad Farhan Gunawan (co-pilot), Hariyadi (crew), Restu Adi Pribadi (crew), Dwi Mardiono (crew), Ferry Irawan (KKP employee), and Yoga Nauval Prakoso (KKP employee).

The identification process used scientific methods such as matching fingerprints, teeth, properties, and medical features. Out of 11 bodypacks received, 10 were successfully identified, while one contained bones confirmed to belong to one of the victims. "The DVI team has successfully identified all 10 crew and passengers," Djuhandhani told reporters.

Head of Medical and Health Division of Sulawesi Selatan Police, Commissioner Big Police Muhammad Haris, added that identification was conducted intensively after the handover of remains from Basarnas. With this, the SAR operation by Basarnas has ended, and the remains were handed over to families at Bhayangkara Hospital in Makassar on January 25, 2026.

This tragedy highlights the importance of victim identification procedures in aviation accidents, ensuring families receive closure.
