Communications Authority of Kenya inaomba maoni juu ya kanuni mpya za kuweka kebo za intaneti

Mamlaka ya Mawasiliano ya Kenya (CA) imetoa wito wa maoni ya umma kuhusu kanuni mpya zinazolenga kuboresha usalama na kuaminika kwa miundombinu ya intaneti. Kanuni hizi zinatokana na malalamiko ya kuongezeka kutoka kwa umma kuhusu kebo zisizowekwa vizuri zinazonyongwawa mitini, kuta na mitaani. Maoni yanatarajiwa kufikishwa kabla ya Mei 20.

Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) ilitoa taarifa leo, Mei 4, ikitangaza kuwa imewasilisha rasimu ya kanuni za kitaifa za kuweka, kutia lebo, kushiriki na kulinda kebo za nyaya za fiber optic na mawasiliano mengine.

Kanuni hizi zinahamasisha kushiriki miundombinu, ulinzi bora wa miundombinu muhimu, na kufuata kanuni za majengo, mazingira na usalama. CA inasema, “Your internet experience doesn’t start at your phone; it begins with the cables right outside your home or office.” Inasisitiza kuwa kuweka vibaya husababisha kasi duni, makosa ya mara kwa mara na hatari za usalama.

Kati ya vipengele ni sheria kali za kumaliza waya hewani na kumudu kebo bila kujali, pamoja na mahitaji ya kumudu mitaani angalau sentimita 60 za kina na matundu ya matengenezo kila mita 150 hadi 200. Majengo mapya, ikiwa ni pamoja na miradi ya nyumba za gharama nafuu, yatatakiwa kuwa na ducts za broadband.

Umma unaombwa kusoma karatasi ya ushauri na kutoa maoni kabla ya Mei 20. Ikiwapo zitapitishwa, kanuni zitaanza kutumika Julai 1, 2026, baada ya kuchapishwa katika Kenya Gazette.
