EACC arrests two police officers over Ksh100,000 bribe allegation

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission arrested two senior police officers in Kisii County on allegations of soliciting a Ksh100,000 bribe related to a land dispute case.

The officers, identified as a DCIO and a Chief Inspector attached to Kitutu Central Sub-County and Nyanchwa Police Station, were arrested on Friday, May 28, after allegedly receiving Ksh40,000 in a controlled sting operation.

According to EACC, the officers had demanded the money from a complainant to facilitate the arrest of an individual accused of illegally occupying land in Nyanchwa Estate and constructing structures on it.

The suspects were taken to the EACC Kisii Regional Office, processed, and released on cash bail of Ksh50,000 each pending further investigations.

The arrests form part of EACC efforts targeting corruption in public institutions, including police and other service providers.
