EACC prende dois policiais sob acusação de suborno de Ksh 100.000

A Comissão de Ética e Combate à Corrupção prendeu dois policiais graduados no condado de Kisii sob alegações de solicitar um suborno de Ksh 100.000 relacionado a um caso de disputa de terras.

Os policiais, identificados como um DCIO e um Inspetor-Chefe lotados no subcondado de Kitutu Central e na delegacia de Nyanchwa, foram presos na sexta-feira, 28 de maio, após supostamente receberem Ksh 40.000 em uma operação controlada.

Segundo a EACC, os policiais exigiram o dinheiro de um denunciante para facilitar a prisão de um indivíduo acusado de ocupar ilegalmente um terreno no conjunto habitacional Nyanchwa e construir estruturas no local.

Os suspeitos foram levados ao escritório regional da EACC em Kisii, processados e liberados após o pagamento de uma fiança de Ksh 50.000 cada, enquanto aguardam investigações adicionais.

As prisões fazem parte dos esforços da EACC para combater a corrupção em instituições públicas, incluindo a polícia e outros prestadores de serviços.
