Frankfurt's Opernturm faces sale to discreet entrepreneur

Frankfurt's Opernturm, one of the city's most prominent office buildings, is on the verge of a potential sale. A German entrepreneur known as Herr Schwaiger is considered the frontrunner bidder. The deal could mark the largest office transaction in years.

The 170-meter-high Opernturm overlooks the Opernplatz next to the Alte Oper. The building features 42 above-ground floors, an underground garage with 580 parking spaces, and 72,500 square meters of rental space.

A discreet German bidder, Herr Schwaiger, is currently seen as the favorite for the deal. Major real estate funds are not considered frontrunners. Experts are questioning the source of the entrepreneur's funds for this megadeal.

Recently, Schwaiger has acquired several prestige properties in prime Munich locations. A sale of the Opernturm would send a strong signal in the German real estate market.
